In order to achieve the desired architectural aesthetic, the new two-story wood-framed addition was designed in the Georgian architectural style to match the existing residence. The 6,000-square foot addition replaces the demolished two-car accessory garage closest to the main house. The first floor features a three-car garage, staff office, powder room, garden / reading room and a breakfast room that connects the addition to the existing residence. The second floor affords an expansive bonus room that serves as the owner’s private home office.

Renovations of this now 17,000-square-foot private residence included a 6,000-square-foot addition to the existing dwelling, the design of site retaining walls for the pool, the removal of an accessory building and garage, and reconfiguration of the driveway/parking area. A new subsurface stormwater retention system and a low-mow meadow were proposed to replace a portion of the existing lawn in order to accommodate an increase in roof, patio, and gravel driveway runoff.
Structural Modifications
Site / Civil Attributes
Due to the increase in impervious area largely caused by the expanded driveway; pool patio; and house addition, a new subsurface storm water retention system was designed and implanted at the property. A low-mow meadow was recommended to replace a portion of existing lawn and existing grass swales were augmented to will accommodate an increase in roof, patio, and gravel driveway runoff. A septic replacement was required due to the increase in the number of rooms.
