DRPILLA is delivering comprehensive engineering services, including support of excavation (SOE), geotechnical, site / civil and structural design, for a three-story animal care center coming soon in Queens. The new haven for four-legged New Yorkers will transform a formerly toxic junkyard into a full-service three-story animal shelter encompassing 32,150 square feet on the ground floor, 13,220 square feet on the 2nd floor, and 6,430 square feet on the 3rd floor. The building program includes areas for administration, a medical clinic, housing for animals, and various support spaces. Additionally, it features a 6,803-square-foot rooftop garden, a 10,300-square-foot outdoor parking area, and a 9,347-square-foot exercise yard on the 2nd floor. The facility will have the capacity to house 72 dogs, 110 cats, and space for rabbits and guinea pigs and will create approximately 80-100 new jobs.
